Nonhuman animals are authentically themselves. They can inspire us to be more true to our identities, not wasting time with human societal pressures. Homosexuality is found in over 1500 species - queerness is natural. This piece is imagining a modern day fable, with our heroine allowing her animal friend to guide her authentic self into the light (and out of the closet).
